The Adventure on the Muddy Road

Once upon a time, at a school named Lubumbashi Primary in Congo, we would ride a bus to school every day. Our bus driver, Mr. Kalombo, was very nice and loved kids.

In Congo, many roads aren't smooth; they are just dirt. When it rains, these roads turn into mud puddles. Sometimes, our school bus gets stuck in this mud. The wheels sink and the bus can't move!

Mr. Scott, our driver, then asks us kids to get off and help push. My friends and I have fun trying to push the bus out of the mud. Little kids and girls don't have to push because it's tough work.

If the bus is really stuck, Mr. Scott asks strong men nearby to help. He gives them some money for their help. Sometimes we get to school late because of the muddy road.

One day, the bus was so stuck we had to walk to school! So, we came up with a clever plan. We decided to always carry wooden poles and chains on the bus. If the bus gets stuck again, we'll put the poles under the wheels so they don't sink in the mud. The chains will help the wheels grip the ground and not slip.

I learned this trick from my uncle, who uses it for his truck. I told Mr. Scott about our plan, and he thought it was a great idea!

Now, whenever we travel on the muddy roads, we're ready with our poles and chains. We're excited for our next adventure, knowing we can get through any muddy challenge on our way to school!
